Meagan Streader is an emerging interdisciplinary artist working between Melbourne and Brisbane. Sourcing materials from her surrounds, Streader’s artworks emphasise and re-evaluate the architecture of the sites they occupy. Employing the repetition of imagery, form and textiles en masse, her works construct an interplay of form and structure. Streader explores these ideas through installation, sculpture, light and soundscape.
Streader has completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (Visual Art) at the Queensland University of Technology (2010). Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, some of which include; ‘Fluoro Coir: Kochi Artist In Residence’, Pepperhouse Studios, India (2014); ‘Underbelly Arts Festival’ Cockatoo Island, Sydney (2013); ‘In Universes’, Crucible Gallery, Brisbane (2014), ‘Unravel’, Kumo Projection Space, Melbourne (2014) and ‘Spawn’, Level ARI, Brisbane (2011). She is a recipient of the Australian Council for the Arts ArtStart Grant. In 2013 she collaborated on ‘Golden Orbs’, a permanent public art commission installed at Gasworks, Newstead. Her work is featured in the Gold Coast University Hospital’s 2D Art Collection.
